2024 Staff Attorney Panel Discussion

COAJ presented an exclusive members only panel discussion with staff attorneys from various Franklin County courts where COAJ members had a frank discussion about best practices, things to avoid, what makes judges tick, and more! The setting was a “closed door” atmosphere to provide a more positive experience when practicing presenting before the court. We did not invite any Judges to attend to facilitate the best and most engaging dialogue possible. Given that the staff attorneys on the panel have experience working with Judges with different personalities, our goal was to offer unique perspectives to COAJ members.

This panel discussion was moderated by COAJ President Chelsea Long and included the following panelists

  • Stephanie Hanna, Staff Attorney for Judge Jeffrey Brown, Franklin County Common Pleas Court
  • Brian Kelso, Staff Attorney for Judge Michael Mentel, Tenth District Court of Appeals
  • Tara Scurlock, Staff Attorney for Judge Sheryl Munson, Franklin County Common Pleas Court
  • Alexa Strangfeld, Staff Attorney for Judge Douglas Nobles, Franklin County Common Pleas Domestic and Juvenile Court
