During this annual Membership Luncheon, the Swearing In Ceremony of our 2023-24 Officers and Directors took place, past Presidents were recognized during the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, and annual awards were presented.
Liz Mote presented Negligence/Insurance Law Committee Chair Geoff Jones with this year’s President’s Award and Anne Valentine presented David Brown with the Outstanding Citizen Award for his work with The Harmony Project. Angie Evans, Bailiff to The Honorable James Brown received this year’s Norma J. Mitchell Award, as presented by Judge James Brown, and The Honorable Don Fraser was presented with this year’s George E. Tyack Award of Excellence by his daughter Tess Fraser and COAJ Director Will Nesbitt. Becca Alexander, a law school student at the Capital University Law School, was presented with this year’s COAJ Scholarship.
The Honorable Chris Brown presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of Chelsea Long as Vice President, Will Nesbitt as Treasurer, and John Markus as 1st Year Director. Mark Troutman, 2nd Year Director, was unable to attend. Judge Brown presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of Pete Friedmann as the 2023-2023 President.
Outgoing President Liz Mote presented incoming President Pete Friedmann with the gavel, and Pete presented Liz with the President’s Plaque. The luncheon ended with closing remarks from incoming President Pete Friedmann.
