May 2025 Annual Luncheon

During this annual Membership Luncheon, the Swearing In Ceremony of our 2025-26 Officers and Directors took place, past Presidents were recognized during the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, and annual awards were presented.

President Chelsea Long presented COAJ scholarships to Capital University Law School students, Emily Cobb and Sarah Herman, as well as to The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law Student, Elizaeth Agranovsky. Chelsea also had the honor of presenting the annual George E. Tyack Award to the Honorable Jodi Thomas of the Franklin County Municipal Court, Specialized Dockets, as well as the President’s Award to COAJ Board Member and Past President, Liz Mote. Geoff Jones presented the Outstanding Legislator Award to Columbus City Councilman and President Pro Tem, Rob Dorans. Katy Brewer, COAJ Bankruptcy Law Committee Chair, presented Dianna Parker, Director of the Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, with this year’s Outstanding Citizen Award, and John Markus presented Isaac Rinsky, Staff Attorney for Judge Jaiza Page, with the annual Norma J. Mitchell Award.

The Honorable Sheryl Munson presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of Mark Troutman as Vice President, John Markus as Treasurer, Geoff Jones as the second Year Director, and Katy Brewer as the first year Director. Judge Munson also presided over the Swearing In Ceremony of Will Nesbitt as the 2025-2026 President.

Outgoing President Chelsea Long presented incoming President Will Nesbitt with the gavel, and Will presented Chelsea with the President’s Plaque. The luncheon ended with closing remarks from incoming President Will Nesbitt.
